Brave Enough To Fail.

KATIE POULTER - 17 - YORKSHIRE

My accent worryingly resembles a typical males, I lack the ability to pronounce the word 'the', and I enjoy a pint just as much as the next middle-aged man.

  • A 2 day journey to San Diego airport, where Chloe had a panic attack, and within 10 minutes of being in the country we had a semi-circle of very large American men with guns surrounding us, one of the paramedics was called R. Burger and he was the greatest guy ever so that made everything OK
  • First day we had a trolley bus with a driver called ‘Larry’ who liked to tell us about every single one of his favourite food places, and there were a lot of them, he took us all round San Diego, to the California Beach which was BEAUTIFUL, Coronado where we had lunch and 3 Mexicans sang to us with guitars, La Jolla Cove, with thousands of seals, which may be the laziest shits alive but great entertainment and we watched the sun set there as well. We sopped at in ‘n’ out burgers which was the WORST PLACE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD - Larry was happy though cause we bought him food - typical, George got a time out for being sick in the restaurant, and I actually gained a rash under my eyes from laughing so much ‘cause Becca is hilarious
  • Second day we went Whale watching, I think about half of our group spent the entirety of the trip being sick, but we got to see a whale and it was pretty breathtaking if you ignored the stench of puke. Then went on a simulation ride wich also made me nauseous because Beth is a shocking driver and just turned us upside down and span round and round for at least 10 minutes. We then got a bike ride back to meet the group with a lovely man, which was absolutely hilarious plus we made a grand entrance, and we went to the Hard Rock Cafe to eat and the burger was literally bigger than my face
  • Tuesday we went to San Diego Zoo and it was BRILLIANT, the polar bears and the panda’s and the snow fox’s and omG(!!!!!!) Also on that day there was a Chinese family in front of us and one of them put up a very large umbrella and the rest all made a synchronized ‘oooooo’ sound as if they had never seen an umbrella before and I laughed for about half an hour
  • On Wednesday we went to Calico ghost town and it was actually a ghost town in the sense that apart from us there were about 10 people there, after that we had a road trip to Vegas and checked into the most amazing hotel you have ever seen in your life, the entire bottom floor was a casino with numerous diners and shops and a massive tower with rides at the top and it was sensational and I’ll never experience anything like it again.- The top of the hotel had a view which actually took my breath away, then I went on the rides which hung you over the edge of the hotel which actually took my breath away because I thought I was about to die. We went to Freemont. Street and saw the largest light show in the world, and met a midget and Elvis and various others, and Sophie is ACE and I love her etc, etc. We also made friends with a guy in an elevator called Virgilio who had a lisp and he loved me because of my accent (xxxxxxxxx)
  • Thursday we went to the Grand Canyon, and on the way there I lost my camera and cried and it was awful and I now hate the Grand Canyon, apart from the Glass Bridge because that was amazing but still I hate the Grand Canyon. (apart from the magician there who was called Mark who I will marry one day because he is fan-tas-tic, also the campfire we had where a tribal man sang to us and we made proper s’mores - but I still hate it.)
  • Friday we went to the Bodies exhibition in the Luxor which was a pyramid building which was ACE and now I know exactly what is inside my body, as it was all real people who given their bodies up for science and made my stomach turn a fair few times but I can say I’ve done it now! We also went on the New York New York roller coaster and it was amazing and Ushna tried to not scream all the way through it but failed miserably, we went to CAESARS PALACE!!!!! and the Venetian on the gondolas and saw the treasure Island show, and the volcano at the Mirage, and had a massive buffet at Harrahs where we played with a crabs claw for ages and it was surprisingly entertaining and the Bellagio fountains and the fashion mall and it was the greatest day and spectacular and just fucking great -plus George and I bought matching hats because we’re that sad and we’re going to where them on the same days at the same time - coOl
  • Then we had a two day travel to come back home and Porsche and Chris slept on my limbs on the coach and I felt like an invalid so me and James moved to sit on our own but the coach driver but only fools and horses on so then we couldn’t sleep
